Adding MGS and MGGS¶
XXXX_Add_Sire_20211024.csv¶
Contains pedigree records adding a sire to the dam of a genotyped animal. We do this automatically if we have not received a pedigree record for the dam and propose to add the sire in cases where the pedigree we received has a blank sire. As a service to your dairies, we see you reporting these fill-ins and accepting feedback if the fill-in is believed to be incorrect.

Fmt_1 - Format 1 record adding the suggested dam
requester_ID - Requester_ID of the genotyped animal
gtypeID - ID of the genotyped animal
sample_ID - Sample_ID of the genotyped animal
type_rltv - Dam/MGD Type of relative
nProg - Number of genotyped progeny of subject animal supporting the MGS assignment
XXXX_Add_Cnst_Dam_20211024.csv¶
Contains cases where we propose adding a discovered maternal grandsire (MGS) or a maternal great grandsire (MGGS), but the linking dam or maternal grandam is unknown so we have to construct an ID for the missing dam. There has been concern about how these constructed iDs should be handled in the industry. The evaluations benefit from more compete pedigree, but there is a need to educate the industry about what they are. If they are deemed too confusing, we could add the MGS to some of the output and leave the connecting dam blank.

Contains cases where we suggest a dam based on herd, calving date, MGS and service sire. In some cases there is more than 1 candidate. If the industry approves, we will fill-in the dam if the information in not ambiguous.. Your role would be to report the information to the dairy and make resulting updates. I see that you have not received any of these files so far. It is likely you will receive them from the monthly run next month.

mult - Y/N There are multiple dams suggested
SSire - Y/N/C The subject animal's sire matches the service sire (Y) or conflicts (C) or there is no service sire to check (N)
SibMB - 1/2/N Multi birth code of animal if 1 or 2, N otherwise
added - Suggested dam is unambiguous, so would qualify to be added
